How long do native ads run?
Every week we read the native ads advertisers are putting the most money behind in the US, and note how long each has been running. In the week of November 2, 2026, half of the 1,824 top ads had been live 21 days or less. Here is the full picture, space by space, and what it means for your own ads.
- 21 days
- median age of the week’s most-bought native ads
- 41%
- had been running for more than a month
- 22%
- were a week old or less
How long this week’s top native ads had been running
A quarter of the ads were 9 days old or younger, and a quarter had run more than 53 days. The top tenth had run 63 days or more.
By space
Some spaces keep ads far longer than others. This week, dating ads had the longest median (62 days) and health & wellness the shortest (14 days).
| Space | Top ads | Median days | Over a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dating | 29 | 62 | 76% |
| Finance & insurance | 142 | 32 | 51% |
| Home & services | 120 | 24 | 45% |
| Beauty & anti-aging | 281 | 20 | 40% |
| Seniors & Medicare | 155 | 20 | 35% |
| Shopping & gadgets | 362 | 20 | 37% |
| Pain & joints | 118 | 14 | 26% |
| Health & wellness | 382 | 14 | 29% |
A short median means ads in that space turn over fast, whether from heavy testing or from readers tiring of them. Either way, expect to need new pictures more often there. See what is winning in each on What’s winning.
What it means for your ads
- Most ads don’t last. Even among ads with real budgets behind them, 39% were two weeks old or less. Plan for new pictures as a routine, not a rescue.
- The ones that last are the signal. An ad still bought widely after a month has earned its budget. That is why our research weighs days running so heavily when it decides what is winning.
- Judge new ads quickly. If most ads are switched off within weeks, a new picture that hasn’t shown promise in its first one to two weeks rarely turns around.
- Refresh with winning formulas, not random ideas. The fastest way to a new ad that lasts is a new take on a kind of picture that is already lasting in your space. The kinds of picture that keep winning.
This is the rhythm ConvertBetterAds runs for you: every Monday, brand-new ads built on the winning formulas lasting longest in your space, sized for every network. How to test them.
How we measure it
Public native ad libraries record when each ad was first and last seen, and on how many placements. Each Monday we take up to 2,000 of the most-bought US native ads of the past week, across Taboola, Microsoft, Outbrain, Revcontent, MGID and other networks, and count days from first to last sighting. Because these are the ads with the most placements, they lean towards ads that are working; the typical native ad, including the ones that never got going, very likely runs for less time. Sexual and graphic ads are left out. Our approach.

How long do native ads run?
Among the 1,824 most-bought US native ads in the week of November 2, 2026, half had been running 21 days or less. A quarter had run 9 days or less, and a quarter more than 53 days. 41% had been running for over a month.
When should I refresh my native ads?
Plan for it from the start. In our research half of the week’s top native ads were 21 days old or younger, so advertisers with real budgets replace pictures every few weeks. A practical rhythm is one or two new pictures a week, judging each within its first one to two weeks, and keeping the winners until they slow.
Is a long-running native ad always a winner?
No, but it is strong evidence. Advertisers keep paying for ads that make them money and switch off the ones that don’t, so an ad still bought widely after weeks has probably earned its place. It doesn’t tell you its cost per sale, and some ads run longer simply because nobody turned them off.
What is creative fatigue in native ads?
When the same readers have seen an ad often enough that they stop clicking, its results slip even though nothing about it changed. Native networks show ads across many sites, so fatigue arrives more slowly than on social feeds, but it does arrive. A steady supply of new ads from proven winning formulas is the fix.
